Guessing The New Marvel

With Secret Wars, Marvel is reinventing it’s line. They’re also saying the stories will take place 8 months after Secret Wars. What will the Nu-MU look like?

We already know three of the new books: All-New, All-Different Avengers (from Mark Waid and Mahmud Asrar), A-Force and Uncanny Inhumans (from Charles Soule and Steven McNiven, at least for a couple issues), but we know nothing about what else is going to happen.

All-New-8a8eeThere’s a rumor, unconfirmed, that the X-Men and other mutants will be transported to a new planet (which makes sense, since having mutants and inhumans is redundant).

So what will happen with the rest of the line?

From the titles we already know, we can guess that Ms. Marvel and the female Thor will continue. The Falcon returns as Captain America so that title will continue. We’ll have an Iron Man as well. Probably a Hulk.

We know from Marvel’s comments that somehow Weird World will continue, and the monstrous Howling Commandos will be around.

Because of the show, I think we’ll have a Daredevil title (maybe a new creative team?). I can see Mark Waid’s S.H.I.E.L.D. continuing because of the show, maybe it gets rebranded into Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the cast resembles the show more (and Quake/Daisy Johnson from the comics ends up with long hair and hacker skills and called Skye).

If they do rebrand into AoS and start to resemble the show, they just better not mess up the history of Hawkeye and Mockingbird.

And speaking of books based on shows, chances Mighty Avengers gets rebranded as the Defenders and have Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Daredevil? Probably pretty good.

I think we’ll have a Scott Lang/Ant-Man book as well as a Guardians of the Galaxy book.

Obviously we’ll have a couple Avengers books (besides the one mentioned above). I have a feeling that Rick Remender will be the new Avengers writer (but I’d be happy if they kept him on Uncanny Avengers, but that book makes no sense now that the mutants won’t be around anymore).

I hope Jonathan Hickman sticks around but after Fantastic Four and Avengers, the only place really for him to go would be the X-Titles. That might be the only way I end up grabbing the new X-Titles and the “new planet” is if he’s involved.

Spider-Man will have a book or two. I hope that Jeff Lemire’s Hawkeye continues and I’m really liking Dennis Hopeless’ Spider-Woman now that it’s not part of a crossover/event. Chances are good that Silk and Spider-Gwen will continue.

I can pray that Nathan Edmondson continues with Black Widow, Punisher and Deathlok but I don’t think that’ll happen. Maybe Black Widow will continue, but I don’t see the other two.

We know Johnny Storm is in the Uncanny Inhumans book, so I don’t see a Fantastic Four book happening after Secret Wars.

I see some new books starting out of this. I think we’ll see a new Runaways book. Not sure what new solo characters will get a book. Will Moon Knight continue? I don’t think so.

I haven’t even touched on the X-Titles yet. These are the ones most up in the air. Obviously there will be an Uncanny X-Men and probably an All-New X-Men (the younger kids), but beyond that? No real idea.

That’s where I see the Marvel Universe post-Secret Wars. There will be a couple surprises I’m sure, but those I can’t really guess at.

I do see myself getting less books post-Secret Wars then I did pre-Secret Wars regardless of what survives and what comes out of it.
