Arrow Spin-Off Gets Two

Two of the mystery roles in the in-development Arrow/Flash spin-off got filled.

hawkgirlDeadline.com is reported that Ciara Renee has been cast as Hawkgirl/Kendra Saunders.

She seems to fill the “FEMALE WARRIOR” role from the four mystery roles that were revealed back at the beginning of March.

“FEMALE WARRIOR” | This twentysomething Latina is pretty but unassuming, book smart and socially awkward by day. But by night, when she hears the cry of battle, her fury is ignited and she becomes a fierce warrior — so much so, that sometimes she can become a threat to others.

The role of Kendra has been further clarified to be “a young woman who is just beginning to learn that she has been repeatedly reincarnated over the centuries. When provoked, her ancient warrior persona manifests itself, along with wings that grow out of her back, earning her the moniker Hawkgirl.”

I really like the Hawks, Hawkman and Hawkgirl, and the reincarnation aspect of the characters. It will be interested to see how they handle it in the show. It can also tie into the other mystery role that was revealed.

“THE TRAVELER” | Described as a “Han Solo-esque rogue who gets by with his charm, this hero hails from the future, and has journeyed back in time on a secret mission. His razor-sharp wit hides the pain of a man who has lived through serious conflict. He also harbors many secrets, always leaving both his teammates and the audience unsure of his true allegiances.

I was hoping this would be Booster Gold, but Deadline.com is reported that the role will be Rip Hunter. Arthur Darvill has been cast in the role.

I’m really interested in how Rip Hunter will work in this show. I’m not all that familiar with the character from the comics.

If this show is done like the Arrow and Flash, then I’ll love it as those are two of my favorite shows.

That said, I was really hoping that they’d spin the Suicide Squad into their own show.
